Yomi Adegoke is a British-Nigerian journalist, broadcaster, and bestselling author whose work explores race, feminism, popular culture, and the ways these forces shape contemporary life. She has written for publications including The Guardian, British Vogue, The Times, and The Independent, establishing herself as a prominent voice in conversations about gender, race, and representation. In 2018, Adegoke co-authored Slay in Your Lane: The Black Girl Bible with Elizabeth Uviebinene. The bestselling nonfiction book examines the experiences of Black women in Britain, addressing everything from workplace discrimination and education to relationships and representation. It helped bring conversations about the barriers facing Black British women to a wider audience. Adegoke made her fiction debut with The List in 2023. Inspired by the complicated questions surrounding online allegations, public accountability, and the #MeToo movement, the novel examines what happens when a journalist’s professional convictions collide with her private life. It became an instant Sunday Times bestseller and was shortlisted for the British Book Awards’ Debut Book of the Year in 2024. In addition to her writing, Adegoke works in broadcasting and screen development. She has been recognised by Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list and named a GQ Men of the Year honouree. Across her journalism and fiction, she is drawn to difficult questions about power, identity, and the gap between the principles people publicly defend and the choices they make when those principles become personal.
