Paul Caruana Galizia is a Maltese investigative journalist and writer based in London. He began his career in journalism in 2018, following the assassination of his mother, Daphne Caruana Galizia, a prominent Maltese journalist known for investigating corruption and exposing wrongdoing among powerful political and business figures. Paul has reported on corruption, financial misconduct, and issues affecting democracy and press freedom. He has received a British Journalism Award and other honours for his reporting. Together with his brothers, he has also been recognised with the Magnitsky Human Rights Award and the Anderson-Lucas-Norman Award for their campaign to achieve justice for their mother. His first book, A Death in Malta: An Assassination and a Family’s Quest for Justice (2023), combines investigative journalism with personal memoir. It recounts his family’s search for answers after Daphne’s murder while examining the wider consequences of corruption and the dangers faced by journalists who challenge powerful institutions. The book won the Overseas Press Club of America’s Cornelius Ryan Award.
