About

Bolu Babalola is a British-Nigerian author, screenwriter, and journalist known for her contemporary retellings of love stories inspired by mythology and folklore. Born and raised in London to Nigerian parents, she draws on West African traditions alongside Greek mythology and other cultural narratives to explore romance, identity, and the complexities of modern relationships. Babalola first gained recognition with Love in Colour (2020), a bestselling collection of romantic stories that reimagines myths and legends from around the world, placing women at the centre of their own narratives. Her debut novel, Honey & Spice (2022), follows a university student who hosts a radio show offering advice on love and relationships, only to find herself reconsidering her own beliefs about romance. The novel won the 2023 TikTok Book Awards’ Book of the Year. Through witty dialogue, vibrant characters, and culturally diverse storytelling, Babalola challenges conventional romantic tropes while celebrating Black women’s experiences, emotional vulnerability, and self-discovery. Her work brings together popular romance and cultural storytelling, offering fresh perspectives on love, desire, and belonging.
