Mica De Leon is a Filipino novelist, essayist, and book editor known for her romantic comedies and epic fantasy novels. She works as an executive editor at Summit Books, one of the Philippines’ leading trade publishing houses, where she has helped produce more than 200 books by Filipino authors. Before entering the publishing industry, she worked as a journalist covering entertainment, lifestyle, health, and science. De Leon is also an award-winning essayist, having received the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 2019 and 2022 for essays exploring romance, feminism, history, fantasy, and Filipino identity. Her debut novel, Love on the Second Read, celebrates book culture through a romance between two rival editors and was longlisted for The Asian Prize for Fiction in 2023. She also writes the fantasy trilogy The Seedmage Cycle, inspired by Philippine mythology and folklore.
