Lin Yi-Han (1991–2017) was a Taiwanese novelist born in Tainan. She studied medicine at Taipei Medical University before turning to Chinese literature at National Chengchi University. Her literary interests and personal experiences informed her writing, which explored the psychological consequences of trauma, the vulnerability of young women, and the ways patriarchal social structures enable abuse. Her debut novel, Fang Si-Chi’s First Love Paradise, was published in February 2017. Drawing on experiences of sexual abuse, the book combines literary allusions, fragmented storytelling, and intense psychological observation to examine how perpetrators manipulate their victims and how society can contribute to their suffering. The novel became an influential work of Taiwanese feminist literature and helped stimulate public conversations about sexual violence and victim-blaming. It has since been translated into numerous languages and reached readers worldwide. Lin died in April 2017, shortly after the novel’s publication. Although it was her first and only completed novel, it left a lasting mark on contemporary Taiwanese literature and continues to challenge readers to confront the realities of sexual abuse and the silencing of survivors.
