About

Claire Daverley is a British novelist born in 1991. She grew up in Hertfordshire and developed a love of storytelling at an early age, inspired by art, film, and frequent visits to the library. She studied Fine Art at the University of Oxford before beginning a career in publishing, writing about books professionally while working on her own fiction in the evenings and early mornings. Daverley made her literary debut with Talking at Night (2023), a contemporary love story that received widespread attention for its lyrical prose and emotionally nuanced portrayal of two people whose lives remain intertwined over many years. The novel was published internationally in more than twenty languages and shortlisted for Debut of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2024. Her second novel, People in Love (2026), explores the complexities of romantic commitment through a woman caught between the life she has built and a love from her past. Daverley is known for her sensitive characterisation and her interest in the small decisions, misunderstandings, and moments of longing that can shape an entire life. She lives in Scotland with her husband and their spaniel.
