Johanna Swanberg is a Swedish journalist, podcaster, and novelist with professional experience in newspapers, television, radio, and public relations. Based in Stockholm, she brings an interest in human behaviour and contemporary social life to her fiction. Her debut novel, My Year As a Fraud, introduces readers to Cassi, a troubled woman who builds a successful self-help business while concealing her own struggles. Originally written in Swedish, the novel gained attention in Sweden and was shortlisted for the Adlibris Award in the Debut of the Year category. Its English translation, by Agnes Broomé, introduced Swanberg’s work to a wider international readership in 2026. Combining humour with compassion for flawed characters, Swanberg explores loneliness, deception, and the complicated ways people seek connection and acceptance.
