About

Ibrahim Nasrallah is a Palestinian-Jordanian novelist, poet, and painter, born in 1954 in a Palestinian refugee camp in Amman, Jordan, to parents displaced from Palestine in 1948. His personal and family history has profoundly influenced his writing, which explores exile, identity, memory, and the enduring Palestinian experience of displacement. One of the most prominent contemporary Arab writers, Nasrallah has published numerous novels and poetry collections, often combining historical research with imaginative storytelling. His ambitious Palestinian Comedy series examines Palestinian society across different historical periods, while his Evil Comedy trilogy explores authoritarianism and political repression in the Arab world. His novel Time of White Horses (2007) traces the history of a Palestinian village from the late Ottoman period through the British Mandate and the events surrounding the establishment of Israel. The novel was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2009. Nasrallah’s work preserves collective memory while examining the relationship between individual lives, national history, and the struggle for belonging.
