About

Valeria Luiselli is a Mexican novelist and essayist born in Mexico City in 1983. She spent much of her childhood moving between countries, an experience that has shaped her interest in migration, identity, and belonging. Writing in both Spanish and English, Luiselli is known for her formally inventive fiction and her engagement with contemporary social and political issues. Her notable works include Faces in the Crowd (2011), a fragmented novel exploring memory and literary identity, and The Story of My Teeth (2013), an experimental work that combines humour, art, and storytelling. Her nonfiction book Tell Me How It Ends: An Essay in Forty Questions (2017) draws on her experience volunteering as an interpreter for undocumented children seeking asylum in the United States. Her novel Lost Children Archive (2019) examines family, displacement, and the US–Mexico border, cementing her reputation as a distinctive voice in contemporary literature.
