David Szalay is a Canadian-born, British-Hungarian writer who grew up in London and has lived in Hungary and Lebanon; he now lives in Vienna. His fiction often explores contemporary masculinity, migration, class, and the strange ways individual lives are shaped by circumstance. He was previously shortlisted for the Booker Prize for All That Man Is, and Flesh made him the first Hungarian-British writer to win the prize.
