Paul Warner is the pen name of Paul Read, a British writer with a background in creative writing. He earned a distinction in the Creative Writing MA programme at City, University of London, and has long been fascinated by espionage fiction, intelligence operations, and the hidden lives of spies. A Spy in the Blood, published in January 2026, is his debut spy thriller and the first book in the Mark Wolfe series. Drawing on the traditions of British espionage fiction, Warner combines intelligence intrigue, international danger, and family conflict in a story about a former spy forced back into action. The novel was named The Times’ Thriller of the Month and received praise from the Financial Times.
