Connor Martin is an American novelist and former senior US national security official. He most recently served as Deputy Director on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) at the US Treasury Department, where his work involved national security and foreign investment issues. He is also a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and divides his time between Washington, DC, and Brooklyn, New York. The Silver Fish, published in April 2026, is Martin’s debut novel. Drawing on his experience in national security, he combines realistic intelligence operations with a fast-moving fictional narrative about the rivalry between the United States and China. The novel reflects his interest in bringing complex geopolitical issues into popular fiction, particularly the hidden connections between technology, international competition, and the people caught in the middle.
