Ayesha Inoon is a Sri Lankan–Australian novelist and former journalist. Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, she travelled widely and worked as a journalist before immigrating to Australia in 2013. Her writing draws on her cultural heritage and experiences of migration, exploring identity, belonging, family, and women’s resilience. Her debut novel, Untethered, was published in 2023 and won the 2022 Australian Society of Authors/HQ Commercial Fiction Prize. Partly inspired by her own experience of immigration, the novel examines the challenges of adapting to a new country while negotiating faith, family expectations, and personal independence. Inoon’s journalism has appeared in publications including SBS Australia, The Sunday Times Sri Lanka, and Serendib. She lives in Canberra, Australia, with her children.
