About

Brenda Lin is a Taiwanese writer, literary translator, and educator based in Taipei. Her work explores family relationships, cultural identity, language, and the connections between textiles and storytelling. She is the author of Wealth Ribbon: Taiwan Bound, America Bound (2004), a collection of essays examining family and cultural identity, and Hope, That You Can Wear, a bilingual tactile picture book inspired by her mother’s collection of children’s textiles. Lin’s essays and translations have appeared in literary journals including The Kenyon Review, Asymptote, Gulf Coast, and WSQ. As a literary translator, she has helped bring Taiwanese writing to English-language readers. Her work often draws on the experience of living between cultures and considers how memory and identity are preserved through language, handmade objects, and family traditions. Her book Unraveling Threads: Essays on Inheritance (2026), published by The Ohio State University Press, brings these interests together in reflections on motherhood, caregiving, Taiwanese heritage, and the meaning of home.
